Love, desire, and forgiveness are things everyone needs and wants. In her book, Strong Women, Soft Hearts, Paula Rinehart touched me by the passionate manner in which she helps the reader connect with forgiveness and other deep issues. Her articulation of loving beyond reason produced in me a strong and burning desire to connect with others, especially those from whom I have been withholding my full heart.
In reading her chapter titled “Living Beyond Fear,” I felt a new strength awaken within me as I committed to do my best and press forward through the fears that hold me back. The author’s words touched me in a very special way when she wrote, “Fear is truly the enemy of passion and a roadblock to the wisdom God would give us.” To be a person of passion I need to press past my fears. I have committed myself to do all I can to not let my fears hinder me any longer from receiving all that God wants for me.
I was brought up to believe that women should be quiet and not have many dreams of their own. Realizing that God wants me to be strong and soft at the same time has helped me find an inner strength that I am learning to draw on. I learned a lot from this book, but, most importantly, I am now striving to love beyond reason. I believe there is something in Strong Women, Soft Hearts that will resonate for every woman.
